System and device information
Find your Device ID and MAC address, change Wi-Fi, reset a display, or remove it from the app.
The System page identifies a display and holds the actions that change how it connects. Open a FlightWall in the TheFlightWall app and select System.
Most of this page needs your phone connected directly to the display. The app says so at the top: you must be connected to your FlightWall to change these.
Device information
These fields are read-only.
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Name | The name you gave the display in the app |
| Model | mini-v1 or widescreen-v1 |
| Firmware Version | The software running on the display |
| Device ID | A six-character code that identifies the hardware |
| MAC Address | The hardware network address |
| Setup State | Where the display is in the setup process |
| Last Seen | When the servers last heard from it |
Device ID
The Device ID is the code support asks for, and the code TheFlightWall Plus needs to link a display. It is also shown on the panel at startup.
It is not the display's name, and it is not the full Flightwall-ABC123 Wi-Fi
name used during setup, though the code is the part after the hyphen.
MAC address
Ask for the MAC address when a network administrator needs to allow the display onto a managed network. If the field is empty, connect to the display first and it appears.
Connect to your FlightWall
Connect to your FlightWall joins your phone to the display's own Wi-Fi network so system actions can run. On Android a Disconnect button appears while you are connected.
You cannot save a configuration while connected this way. Disconnect and rejoin your normal network before saving changes from the other settings pages.
Change Wi-Fi Network
Moves the display to a different network.
Change Wi-Fi Network removes the display from the app and returns it to setup. You run through Pair your display again afterwards.
This is the only in-app route to a new network. There is no way to erase the Wi-Fi credentials stored on a display. Power cycling does not clear them, and Remove does not either. If a display is no longer in the app, put it through setup again by scanning the QR code on the panel.
Factory Reset
Factory Reset clears the display's settings and removes it from the app.
A factory reset cannot be undone. Every saved setting on the display is cleared. Use it when you are handing the display to someone else or starting over on purpose.
Remove device
Remove device unpairs the display from the app and nothing more. The display keeps its settings and its saved Wi-Fi credentials, and carries on showing flights.
Use it to tidy up a phone. To add the display back, scan the QR code on the panel or use manual connection, and the app pulls the existing configuration back down.
Using several phones
Adding a display to a second phone or tablet does not disturb the first. Add it the same way you added it originally and the app pulls the display's current configuration. Two people can manage one display this way.
Saved configuration presets do not travel. They live on the phone that made them.
