Brightness and sleep schedule
Set display and border brightness, and turn the display off or dim it during set hours.
Brightness and the sleep schedule sit on the Display Layout page. Both apply whatever the display is showing.
Brightness
Brightness sets the main LED panel, from 1% to 100%.
Border enabled turns the illuminated border on or off. Border brightness sets it separately, also from 1% to 100%, and only while the border is on.
The display has no light sensor. It does not dim itself as the room gets darker, and it does not brighten in daylight. For a change by time of day, use the sleep schedule below.
Sleep schedule
Display schedule turns the display off or dims it during hours you choose. The default window runs from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
A FlightWall is built to stay powered on. Use the schedule rather than unplugging it every night.
To set one:
- Open the FlightWall in the TheFlightWall app.
- Select Display Layout.
- Turn on Display schedule and select Edit display schedule.
- Choose Same every day or Different each day.
- Set Sleep Start and Wake Up.
- Set Sleep brightness.
- Select Save in the device header.
Same every day applies one window to all seven days. Different each day gives every weekday its own window, so weekends can differ from weekdays.
Sleep brightness
Sleep brightness decides what happens during the sleep window.
- At 0%, the display turns fully off.
- Above 0%, the display stays on at that brightness.
A low sleep brightness is the way to get a dim overnight display rather than a dark one.
Timezone
The schedule follows the clock timezone by default, and the app names the zone it is using. Turn off Use clock timezone to give the schedule its own zone.
Set the clock timezone under Edit clock settings. A schedule that fires at the wrong hour is nearly always the wrong timezone or a daylight saving setting. See No-flights screen and clock.
If the schedule does not work
- Confirm the timezone and the daylight saving setting.
- Confirm you selected Save in the device header after editing.
- A display that turns off on time but does not wake is covered in Display problems.
