Display units
Set the units the wall uses for altitude, speed, vertical rate, and heading.
The units on the wall and the units in the app are different settings. The app preference under Settings changes what the app shows you. It does not change the display.
That is why a phone set to imperial can sit next to a wall showing km/h.
Set the units
You can reach the same setting from two places.
From Area Tracking. Open the FlightWall, select Area Tracking, and select Aircraft metrics units.
From Display Layout. Open the FlightWall, select Display Layout, then Edit layout settings, and scroll to Display Units.
On a FlightWall Mini the Display Layout route only appears under the Technical or No Logo template, because the other templates have no room for metrics. The Area Tracking route is always available. A FlightWall Widescreen shows both.
Select Save in the device header afterwards, then give the display a moment to redraw.
The four settings
| Setting | Options |
|---|---|
| Altitude Barometric | Meters, Feet, Kilometers, Nautical Miles |
| Velocity | Meters per Second, Kilometers per Hour, Knots, Miles per Hour, Mach |
| Vertical Rate | Meters per Second, Feet per Second, Feet per Minute, Kilometers per Hour, Miles per Hour |
| Track / Heading | Degrees, such as 270°, or Cardinal, such as N, NNE, SW |
These units cover area results and any individually tracked flight that has plane metrics turned on.
Distance flown
The distance-flown figure on a tracked flight has its own unit, set under Distance flown units on the Area Tracking page. It offers meters, feet, kilometers, miles, and nautical miles.
The unit is stored for the whole display. Whether the figure appears at all is per flight, under the gear icon on the Flight Tracking page. See Flight Tracking.
If the wall stays metric
Almost always the template. On a Mini, set Layout template to Technical or No Logo, or use the Area Tracking route instead, which works under every template.
If units still do not change after saving, see Display problems.
