Set a custom message
Save a short message for linked displays to show while you are on a flight leg.
Plus Sync can show one account-level custom message on your linked displays while you are on a flight leg. You can manage it in the TheFlightWall app or on plus.theflightwall.com.
The message applies to your Plus account rather than one flight or one display. Every linked display uses the same saved message.
How much text fits
The display wraps the message onto two rows and never splits a word. How much fits depends on the display model and its main view:

In the Custom message view, the display uses large text when the message fits and switches to smaller text when it does not.
When several displays are linked, the smallest limit among them applies. Both editors enforce that limit and name the display that sets it. If a display has not reported its layout yet, the editor uses the Mini limit of 40 characters until it does. A message that fits only in smaller text saves with a warning that the display will use smaller text.
Save a message on the website
- Open Message at plus.theflightwall.com.
- Enter your text under Your message. The limit and a preview of the wrapped text update as you type.
- Leave Show this message on my display selected.
- Select Save message.
A banner at the top of the page shows whether the message is on your display or saved but switched off. Changes reach linked displays within a minute.
Save a message in the app
- Open the message editor in one of these ways:
- On the Plus Sync screen, open the Display tab and select Add a custom message or Edit custom message.
- On the Plus Sync card under Flight Tracking, select Edit custom message.
- On the Now showing: Plus Sync banner at the top of a display's settings pages, select Edit custom message.
- Enter your text under Message. The editor shows the character limit for your displays.
- Leave Show on display turned on.
- Select Save message.
The card and banner shortcuts appear once your account has a schedule connected.
Add a supported symbol
FlightWall displays support a limited character set. The editors offer the symbols the display can draw: ♥ ☺ ♪ ⌂ ☼ → ★ ✈. Each takes one character. In the app, select Add a symbol to insert one.
Keyboard emoji are not supported. If you type or paste characters the display cannot draw, the editor removes them and shows a warning. Check the message before saving.
A display running older firmware can show ★ and ✈ as ?. Power-cycle the
display so it pulls the current firmware.
Keep the message without displaying it
Turn off Show this message on my display on the website or Show on display in the app, then save. Plus keeps the text in your account, but linked displays stop showing it.
Turn the setting back on and save again when you want to restore the message.
You can only choose the Custom message main view for a display while a saved message is switched on.
Remove the message
On the website, select Delete. In the app, select Remove message, then confirm Remove. Either action deletes the message from your Plus account and stops it from appearing on linked displays.
To hide the message temporarily, switch it off instead.
