Plus troubleshooting
Resolve Plus account, subscription, device-linking, schedule-import, review, and display problems.
Start with the section that matches what you see. The TheFlightWall app and plus.theflightwall.com use the same Plus account, so confirm that both are signed in with the same email address.
Plus does not appear in the app
Plus Sync is held back in the app until it launches. During the private beta, use plus.theflightwall.com.
If a display you linked on the website follows your Plus schedule and Flight Tracking shows This display is following a synced schedule, so the flight settings below are paused., select Stop using the synced schedule to use manual flight tracking again.
Plus says it is in a private beta
Account creation and checkout are limited to invited email addresses during the private beta, in the app and on the website. This includes Google and Apple sign-up in the app. Join the waitlist from the message, or sign up with the address that received the invitation.
Create account shows Coming soon
Website account creation is disabled when Plus has not opened sign-up for that environment or region. Create the account from the Plus Sync card in the TheFlightWall app if your country is supported, or return when sign-up becomes available.
Existing accounts can still use Sign in.
Your session expired
Sign in again, then reopen the task. If an import was interrupted, check Schedule and Review before starting it again.
The website supports email and password sign-in. Google and Apple sign-in are available only in the app.
Checkout finished but Plus is still locked
- Wait briefly, then pull down on the Plus Sync screen to refresh.
- Confirm that checkout used the same Plus account that is open in the app.
- Sign in at plus.theflightwall.com and open Settings → Billing.
- Check the subscription status.
Stripe confirmation can arrive after the browser returns to the app. Do not purchase the plan again while the first payment is still being confirmed.
If the app says subscriptions are unavailable in your region, the current storefront is not eligible for app-initiated web checkout. See Subscribe to Plus Sync.
A device is awaiting approval
Open the app on the phone paired with that display. Link this device to Plus? appears on any screen while the app is open. Select Approve link.
If the request does not appear:
- Compare the website Device ID with System → Device ID in the app.
- Return the app to the foreground to trigger another check.
- Verify that the website still shows Awaiting approval.
You can also skip the website request and select Link This Display on the Plus Sync card under Flight Tracking.
A device shows Not finished
The website saved the link but could not turn on Plus Sync for the display. Power on the display, confirm it is connected to Wi-Fi, then select Retry beside it on the Devices page.
A device cannot be linked
- Remove an active or pending link if the account already has three.
- Approve the existing request if the device is already pending.
- If the device belongs to another Plus account, unlink it there first. The app shows This display is already linked to another Plus account.
- In the app, Link This Display appears only after you subscribe and import a schedule.
- Enter the Device ID, not the display name or Wi-Fi network name.
See Link a FlightWall for the complete process.
You cannot connect another calendar
Plus allows one live connection: Google Calendar or a calendar URL. Open Import, disconnect the current live source, then connect the other one.
Disconnecting removes the flights imported from that calendar. File uploads and manual entries are one-time imports, do not occupy the live connection, and are not affected.
Google Calendar authorization was denied
Return to Import and select Connect Google Calendar again. Complete the Google consent flow and select the calendar containing your schedule.
A live calendar shows Connected with errors
Plus could not refresh the source. The error appears under the connected source on the Import page.
- For Google Calendar, disconnect and reconnect to renew calendar access.
- For a calendar URL, confirm the link still works in the source app. If the app reset or regenerated the link, disconnect and subscribe with the new one.
To receive an email when this happens, turn on Email me when a schedule sync fails under Settings → Notifications.
A calendar URL cannot be imported
- Confirm that the URL begins with
https://orwebcal://. - Use the subscription or feed link supplied by the app, not the address of a calendar webpage. See Connect a calendar app.
- Use a link that opens without signing in. Plus rejects links that contain a username or password, and cannot read calendars on a private network.
- Confirm that the link has not expired or been regenerated.
- Keep the calendar under 5 MB. Large feeds that take longer than 30 seconds to download fail.
- Disconnect another live source before adding the URL.
Treat a working calendar URL like a password because it grants access to the calendar.
A calendar file cannot be imported
- Use an
.ics,.ical,.ifb, or.icalendarfile. - Keep the file at or below 2 MB.
- Confirm that the file contains valid iCalendar data and upcoming events.
- Export a new copy if the provider produced an empty file.
A file upload is a one-time import. Upload another file when the source schedule changes.
Flights appear twice after uploading a file
Each file upload is imported separately, so a newer copy of the same schedule adds its flights next to those from the earlier file. Delete the outdated and duplicate flights from Review or Schedule. On the website, Delete leg only appears on flights that are not yet approved; use the app to delete an approved flight.
The imported schedule is empty
- Confirm that the selected calendar contains work events that have not ended yet. Plus skips events that ended more than six hours ago.
- Confirm that events include flight details. Calendars shared with free and busy times only, such as an Outlook calendar published without details, give Plus nothing to read.
- Check Review for flights with missing information.
- Check Excluded in the app or Previously excluded on the website for events Plus classified as non-flight activity. If one is a flight, add it manually, or restore it on the website so a future import considers it again.
- For Google Calendar, verify that you selected the correct calendar.
- Retry the import after correcting the source.
Plus may report that it found events but no flight schedule data. In that case, add the flights manually or update the source events with recognizable flight details.
Flights disappeared after disconnecting a calendar
Disconnecting a live calendar removes every flight imported from it. Connect the calendar again to re-import its upcoming events.
Schedule changes are not on the display
Confirm that:
- The device status is Active, not Awaiting approval or Not finished
- The subscription is active
- Plus Sync is turned on under Flight Tracking
- Show on device is enabled for the leg in the app
- Manually entered flights are complete and approved
- The display is not asleep
Changes reach the display on its next schedule refresh. If a live source changed, check the updated flights in Review.
A hidden flight is showing again
A refresh of a connected calendar can turn Show on device back on for flights from that calendar. Open the flight in the app and turn Show on device off again.
A custom message loses characters
FlightWall displays accept a limited set of characters. Keyboard emoji and
some pasted symbols are removed. Use the symbols offered in the message editor.
If ★ or ✈ appears as ?, power-cycle the display so it pulls the current
firmware.
A FlightWall Mini fits 40 characters and a FlightWall Widescreen fits 76 to 84, depending on its main view. When several displays are linked, the smallest limit applies. See Set a custom message.
If the message is saved but absent, turn on the setting that shows it on the display and confirm that the display is currently showing an eligible flight leg.
Account deletion did not stop store billing
Deleting a Plus account immediately cancels website Stripe subscriptions, but it does not cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions. Open the store that bills the subscription and cancel it there.
