Import a schedule

Connect a calendar, upload a calendar file, or add flights manually to Plus Sync.

Plus Sync builds your schedule from one live calendar connection, one-time file uploads, manual entries, or any mix of the three. After an import, review the results in Review.

To find the calendar link or export file in a crew or travel app, see Connect a calendar app.

Open schedule import

In the TheFlightWall app, open the Plus Sync screen and select Import. If any imported flights are waiting for review, the tab shows them first. Review or approve them, and the import options return. When nothing is waiting, the tab shows:

  • Quick Manual Add, collapsed at the top, for Quick add or Day builder
  • An import method selector for Google, Calendar URL, or File Upload
  • Live source, showing the connected calendar and when it last synced

On plus.theflightwall.com, open Import. The page has Google, Calendar URL, File upload, and Manual tabs. Google and Calendar URL are labeled Stays in sync; File upload and Manual are labeled One-time import.

Choose an import method

Google Calendar

Google Calendar stays connected and refreshes your schedule automatically. Plus requests read-only calendar access and never changes your calendar.

  1. Select Google and then Connect Google Calendar.
  2. Complete Google authorization. The app opens a secure browser and returns when you finish.
  3. Select the calendar that contains your schedule.
  4. Optionally choose a default airline and source name.
  5. Select Import calendar.

The first import reads the next 90 days of events. If you deny access, return to Import and connect again when you are ready.

Calendar URL

A calendar URL also stays connected. Plus re-checks it for changes automatically.

  1. Select Calendar URL.
  2. Paste the calendar URL.
  3. Optionally choose a default airline and source name.
  4. Select Subscribe and import in the app or Subscribe to calendar on the website.

The URL must:

  • Begin with https:// or webcal://
  • Open without a sign-in. Plus rejects links that contain a username or password.
  • Be no longer than 2,048 characters
  • Return a calendar no larger than 5 MB within 30 seconds

Treat the URL like a password. Anyone who has it can read the calendar.

Calendar file

A file upload imports its current contents once and does not stay connected.

  1. Select File Upload in the app or File upload on the website.
  2. Choose an .ics, .ical, .ifb, or .icalendar file no larger than 2 MB. In the app, select Choose calendar file.
  3. Optionally choose a default airline and source name.
  4. Select Import calendar file in the app or Import calendar on the website.

Each upload is imported separately. Uploading a newer copy of a schedule adds its flights alongside those from the earlier file rather than replacing them, so delete outdated or duplicate flights afterward.

Add flights manually

Manual entry is a one-time addition. In the app, expand Quick Manual Add on the Import tab. On the website, select Manual.

Quick add accepts a date, an optional airline, and up to 50 flight numbers separated by commas or line breaks. In the app, the save button shows how many flights you entered, such as Add 3 flights. Quick add entries have no airports or times, so they go to Review for you to complete.

Day builder accepts report and release times, an optional layover city, and up to 50 legs. For each leg, enter the flight number, origin, destination, departure, arrival, type, and optional notes. Airports use three-letter codes such as LAX. Times use the default timezone from your profile, and a later time that crosses midnight rolls into the next day. In the app, select Add day to save.

If you submit the same entry twice, Plus reports that the flights are already in your schedule instead of adding them again.

Complete manual legs are approved as soon as you save them. Incomplete legs wait in Review and do not reach your displays until you complete and approve them.

Plus only imports upcoming events

Plus skips events that ended more than six hours ago. Exporting or uploading past months adds nothing to your schedule.

Plus reads the airline, flight number, airports, and times from each event. When an event lists a flight number without an airline code, Plus uses the default airline chosen for that import. Events that describe reserve, vacation, training, or other non-flight activity are listed as excluded in Review.

One live connection at a time

An account can connect Google Calendar or a calendar URL, but not both. While one is connected, the other method asks you to disconnect the current source first. File uploads and manual entries do not use the live connection.

The app's Live source section and the top of the website's Import page show the connected source, its status, and when it last synced.

To switch live sources:

  1. Open Import. On the website, select the connected source's tab.
  2. Select Disconnect sync. In the app, confirm Disconnect.
  3. Connect the other source.

Disconnecting stops future refreshes and removes every flight imported from that calendar from Schedule, Review, and your linked displays. Disconnecting Google Calendar also revokes Plus's access to your Google account. Flights from file uploads and manual entries are not affected.

Review the result

Imports can take a few minutes. Keep the app or page open until the import finishes.

After the import finishes, Plus opens Review with a summary of new, updated, canceled, and excluded items. In the app, Review appears on the Import tab. Complete missing information and approve the flights that look right.

See Review flights for the complete workflow.
